The first record of the use of that ubiquitous blue textile as car seat covers was in 1973 when American Motors Corporation (AMC) offered a regular production option consisting of a Levi’s interior trim package. The following years, other car models such as the Gremlin, Hornet, and Pacer, also started offering the same design.
During the ‘70s, Volkswagen produced the Jeans Beetle, which had all-denim trim. The leading automaker also adopted this concept in later models.
